We snatched our bags and made our way to customs and immigration. It was a little chaotic. Lines appeared throughout the room and the one we ended up in was not the fastest. Joshua quickly lost his temper. “Ese wey es nuevo, ni sabe!” After a prolonged time we ultimately got our passport stamped. Joshua took out money at an ATM in Singapore. I mentioned it wouldn’t be enough but he refused to listen. Vidi and I exchanged our money and continued to the exit. We needed to make our way to the train station in order to get to Ayutthaya. However, finding that damn train station took us another hour. We asked for instructions a couple times.

Yet, no one mentioned the exit was tiny and mocked up as a hotel entrance. It could’ve also just been us being dumb. Once we found the exit, we purchased our tickets to our first stop in Thailand. While we waited another hour, Joshua got us some street food (chicken and a bag of rice). I don’t know if it was the fact that we were hungry, but it was so freaking good. We devoured our food and waited.

Later, we heard the railway announcer say the train to Ayutthaya was arriving and thought, “well maybe it’s early, let’s get in.” We never took the time to think that the very busted up train was not the ticket we purchased. We still had a bit of luck because the destination was the same, it just took a longer route. We grabbed our huge luggage and hauled them up the train. That was the last time Joshua cared for the luggage and I’m totally with him on that. In all honesty we packed a little too much. The rest of the ride went well. The heat was strong but the breeze that came in from the windows felt nice. We carried long faces but were still optimistic. That optimism vanished as we set foot on the train station.
